1 Tynwald Road, New Norfolk
Tynwald - Country mansion on the Derwent
Tynwald offers both bed & breakfast and self-catering accommodation near Hobart.
The homestead is a magnificent building set amid 6 riverfront acres in Tasmania’s beautiful Derwent Valley. You can stroll at your leisure, breathe in the fresh country air and imagine days gone by.
The rich history of this elegant mansion has been retained, all rooms are furnished with genuine antiques, giving it a special ambience, but with all the modern comforts, including some spa rooms.
The peaceful scenery outdoors can be admired while ambling along the river walks which lead to a wetlands park and sanctuary where the bird life is abundant, and to the esplanade of New Norfolk just a short 2 kilometres away.
Tynwald offers the opportunity for a luxury heritage home or the perfect venue for small intimate weddings and functions.
The home has just seven suites for overnight guests, or room for immediate and extended family. Two of the rooms have spas making them a luxury to enjoy. All suites are furnished with antiques and offer the peace and tranquillity of the Tasmanian countryside, while only being half an hour from Hobart.
All rooms currently have electric heaters, flat screen digital television, tea making facilities with biscuits, fridge, iron and ironing board, quality toiletries, monogramed towels and dressing gowns as they are being used as bed and breakfast accommodation.
The property has amazing lifestyle features including solar heated outdoor pool, tennis court to make this a real family retreat or a functioning business, the choice is yours!
There is a commercial kitchen serving breakfast, lunch and dinner for guests and could be used for catering if you have the desire to pursue this avenue.
The gardens are nothing short of expansive with advanced trees and shrubs, bulbs and heritage style plantings to be enjoyed. Time will just disappear when you are spending time exploring this amazing garden.
Within the grounds is a fully renovated character cottage which was part of the first flour mill in the district. Known as The Granary, it is a self-catering quaint stone cottage originally built in September 1822, formerly the grain store for the old mill. Borrow the fishing rods and try your luck in the river just beyond the front door. Now converted into a self contained cottage, with two levels - the bedroom, which is upstairs, has double and single bed & sleeps up to three people - the ground floor has a full kitchen and a cosy lounge with a slow combustion wood fire to stay warm on cold winter nights.
